Tidio and Lyro: AI notice duty (Article 50)

Lyro answers on its own. On a French or EU site, the visitor must know from the first message.

Tidio offers live chat and the Lyro agent. As soon as replies go out without a human behind them, Article 50(1) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 requires a clear notice, at the latest when the chat opens.

Small businesses that install Tidio to “cover support at night” are in scope: there is no size threshold. A tiny “AI” chip or a FAQ link does not replace a readable sentence next to the widget.

Tidio remains the tool vendor. The site remains responsible for displaying the notice, keeping a register (Tidio / Lyro / support use) and being able to show that the notice appeared on a given day.

Clairia detects code.tidio.co and Tidio markers on the homepage. This is not a Tidio audit, nor legal advice.
